A Bad Case of Epizootic
If you know anything about ranching, you know that cows can come down with some pretty wild diseases.
Years ago, one really bad ailment was called the epizootic - foot and mouth disease. There was a time when large herds of animals were wiped out due to the epizootic. It seems to have been cured for cows, but it may have just migrated over to the hospital business office.
We find some admission employees are succumbing to "foot-in-mouth" disease when dealing with patients. How can you keep your employees from catching the epizootic?
- They should make sure facts and figures are correct.
- They should practice avoiding specific situations that can get them and the hospital in trouble when dealing with patients.
- They should always be business-like in their interactions with patients.
- They shouldn't apologize when asking for money.
